Hello Mr Stewart,

I am a massive fan and can't wait to see you perform in Dubai next Friday.

My parents, god parents and I are Rod Stewart daft and you have been significant throughout my life.
My god-parents took me to see you at the Glasgow SECC when I was 13. Even at that age, I knew every word to all your songs as I have grown up listening to them.
I am a Glasgow girl through and through (although I am a Rangers fan, sorry) and I have even met you on a few occassions. We had lunch with Ron McCulloch (who use to own Big Beat and The Tunnel) and we have also bumped into each other in the Rogano when you have been up for the football.

My first dance was to 'You're in my heart' and practically everybody was on a table or chair screaming out all the words to your song.

The main reason that I wanted to say hello is that after your concert in Dubai next week (I can't wait) I will be heading off to Haiti as a volunteer.

Once in a while something or someone touches your life. This may not always be someone you know, or something you have a connection with. It may consume you in a way you didn’t think possible, but once it takes hold, you know that you have to everything you can to try and help.
When I became aware of this, it affected me in a way I cannot describe or that made total sense. However, since that day, I have followed the reports and the progress that was being made to try and give the people of Haiti some kind of hope, some way to start rebuilding their lives.

I have spent the last few months going through the necessary process and am delighted that I have now been selected to travel to Haiti.

During my placement I will have the privilege to be working within an orphanage as well as two camps; Pinchinat and Kay Wolf, for internally displaced persons. These camps have more than 3000 people who became homeless after the quake. We hope to provide them with the basic necessities of life – love, food, clothing and shelter. I will also be involved in the running of education classes for children as the schools have been closed down until September. Another key responsibility which is critical to me is to assist within a research unit to help people overseas to get news of their families in Haiti.

Your concert is the perfect way for me to say goodbye to life as I know it for a few weeks and then for me to emark on my Haiti trip and I am glad that you agreed to be a part of this record.

Glad to see Rod on "Everybody Hurts". As he has matured so has his voice. The timbre and quality of his voice is so much better now than it was in his early years. It is very evident on "Soulbook", where he hascaptured the very essence of the songs of his idols. Well done, Sir, well done! With maturity comes grace.
